The Griffin is a functioning riverboat, driven by paddle wheels, originally modeled after historic Mississippi steamboats. It is located at a mom and pop boat yard, which is quite different from a fancy marina. Work happens here. Metal is welded here. Engines are torn apart and put back together here. This home was originally designed by John Wangenstein in 1860 as the water pump house for the City of Duluth but was abandoned. Miss Elisabeth Congdon converted the pumphouse into an absolutely stunning French-style home. We are located lakeside on London Road, just a short drive to Duluth's downtown restaurants, entertainment, and Canal Park. PL19-166.
