Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Unwind in your private suite with a walkout entrance on the lower level of our family home, nestled on 2 acres beside Elk Lake Park. Centrally located, we’re 15-20 minutes from the ferry, airport, and downtown, 10 minutes to Butchart Gardens, and 5 minutes to great hiking and biking. Nearby, you’ll find charming farms and restaurants. The closest bus stop is 2 km away. Your suite includes a fridge, microwave, Keurig, and kettle for basic meal prep. No smoking or scented products, please!

The cabin is designed for a cozy place to unwind, relax and be your Cowichan home base. Featuring a wood burning fireplace, classic claw foot tub, comfortable linens and of course an expansive private deck with field views- the perfect place to cozy up and enjoy your local coffee in the morning or local glass of wine after a day on the town.

Great for couples. 5 mins from Cordova Bay beaches, Elk Lake, Mattick’s Farm, Gigis Deli & market, Adrienne's Restaurant, Cordova Bay Golf Course, Mount Douglas & more. 15 mins from the ferry & DT (by car). Enjoy a king sized bed and a loveseat for watching TV. The loveseat is not big enough to sleep. Pls inform me of any breakfast preferences. NO CATS ALLOWED . My place is close to the beach and across the road from Elk Lake. The apartment is only 15 minutes away from all major tourist attractions that Victoria has to offer. Other close amenities include Butchart Gardens, the Commonwealth pool, mini putt, the Cordova Bay Golf Course and Public transport as well as an off-the-lead .year around dog beach. It is also a three day minimum stay My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and your dog.

Deer graze in the yard, the occasional fox wanders by and eagles can be seen soaring above the trees. Guests can relax on their large private patio that is surrounded by bountiful gardens. This property is within walking distance of Mt. Grant and close to both Mt. Young and British Camp.
