Thoughtfully built by a sculptor–builder, this retreat blends nature, privacy, and intention in every detail.

Handcrafted Hideaway Near Mendocino

*We're usually closed Nov-Feb. Open to messages! Our cabin is nestled among redwood trees a few miles from the wild Pacific Ocean, historic Mendocino, and the Anderson Valley wine country. A place to relax, recharge, or finish a creative project. Bookings include Mendocino County tourism tax. No pets due to wildlife, and host allergies. Note: bear, fox, hawks, quail, bats, lizards, banana slugs, bobcat, spiders are part of the forest ecosystem and may occasionally visit the vicinity.

Crispin Cottage

A small but cozy cabin, warmed by our kerosene heater in the winter and with a small air conditioner for the heat waves of summer. The sunroom maintained by my sister is warm on sunny winter days and cool during the summer. Our property is peaceful, with only my mother, sister and my sister's grandson living in the two other dwellings on the three acre property. We offer complete privacy for those that prefer it; or for those that enjoy it, we love meeting and gretting our guests.

Big River Ridge Cottage, private, cozy in Redwoods

Whether you are nature lovers, riders, or want a quiet personal or romantic retreat, our place is ideal. Walking, hiking, biking trails abound right from the property. Tucked into a magnificent redwood forest the cottage has a gas fireplace, reading chair, futon couch, good lighting, desk, and dining table. The kitchen contains basic staples, including teas and fresh organic eggs from our hens. A large claw-foot tub is in the bathroom and a shower is on the secluded west facing deck.

Rustic Cozy Cabin Barn near Mendocino

Cozy rustic converted barn/tack room surrounded by oaks, firs and pines located on our lower meadow. Lavender rows blooming below the paddock fence fragrant the air during the summer months and available for harvesting. Outdoor seating to enjoy the mornings, a little ocean view and sunsets. The Navarro Beach estuary is just a few miles away for walking or wading. No Wifi creating a true country experience which we think you'll enjoy offering solitude, disconnecting and reinventing.

The space is appointed with fresh linens and sunny skylights, deck, fire pit, gas grill, sauna(small fee) space heater, CD player, microwave, mini-fridge. Shared property with main house. Steep driveway and ladder to loft limit accessibility. For the young adventurer!!

The property location is situated close to the town of Mendocino, approximately 4 miles directly east of town. It is a separate guesthouse from the main farmhouse. There are numerous trees surrounding the cottage, providing privacy. The views are of open meadow, forest and apple orchard. Lots of outdoor space; fire pit, redwood fairy ring with hammock, secret tree forts, lawn games, outdoor kitchen with sink, counter and BBQ.

If you're looking for a getaway that is quiet and beautiful, slow down and relax on a peaceful ranch. Take nature walks, spot wildlife and pet the horses. Enjoy a glass of wine on the deck and spend the night gazing at the Milky Way. We offer light snacks for your breakfast on your first morning, along with coffee, tea, cream and sugar. You will have the house to yourself. We share a parking lot and live next door.
