James and Lucy Wilkins purchased this home in 1940. James was the accountant for the New River Coal Company having moved to the area in 1920s. This is a very large second floor apartment located in one of the oldest buildings in Mt. Hope. The apartment has its original hard wood floors and large ceilings. The bedrooms both have king size beds that are extremely comfortable. There is a space off the master bedroom that can be used for work, reading or even enjoy a 2 person breakfast while looking at the town. Being so old there are still flaws to the apartment. I tried to maintain as much original features as possible.

When visiting the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, stay at this quaint stone cottage less than a mile off of Route 19 in downtown Oak Hill, WV. Things to Note: This little cottage has skylights upstairs, so light floods into this space from sunrise to sundown. Also, the mattress is firm. Finally, the hot water is provided via a tankless hot water heater, which has been known to cause water temperature variability.
