The Alwar House has one of the most stunning views of north carolina mountains and offers serenity and solitude. Enjoy morning coffee on deck and first floor balcony overlooking jaw dropping mountain views, sunrise and clouds. During summer and fall, wake up in the clouds. Gaze sunrise and sunset creating a dance of color behind the blue ridge and jefferson mountains. Evenings are best for enjoying your wine with sunset behind the mountains and, deer and turkey lurking around Alwar House.

We have been renovating an old 1950's dairy barn since 2013. We fell in love with this location because the barn is set in a beautiful valley in the Appalachian Mountains. You have to drive through the creek to get to the barn. We built this private bungalow on the creekside of the barn with its private entrance. Unwind and relax at this unique and tranquil getaway! Built in the early 1920's, this farmhouse with a wraparound porch and beautiful views is the perfect place to experience the NC mountains. It is located just two miles from the scenic New River where you can rent canoes, kayaks or tubes and a short drive to the nearest entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Grayson Highlands State Park. You can also explore the quaint nearby towns of Sparta and West Jefferson.

Hurrican Helene did not damage the area. HWY 421 to 77 to 21 is open. Enjoy the beautiful mountains of North Carolina where the second oldest river runs through! Canoeing, fishing, tubing, hiking & the slender of nature. Great for a single person or a couple. Or just sit on the porch overlooking the river and relax! There are great restaurants in town and the feel of small-town people. This is our happy place, and I know it will become yours too.
