From a humble food truck to many locations across Austin, Via313 remains on Austin's Pizza list as a crowd favorite. The pizza is considered "Detroit Style" and has some of the best crispy crust in town. My favorites are "The Cadillac" and "The 500".

This is just one of those solid places you never take off your list. Close proximity to downtown without all of the crowds. GREAT sandwiches, cheap drinks and a quaint little patio that alot of people still haven't discovered.

Take a step back into 1960s Austin in this ultra cool retro creole-american fusion diner. A perfect brunch spot located in Far East Austin on old Cesar Chavez. I usually get the Crab Eggs Benedict but their menu options are vast and varied. DON'T miss their home made biscuits.

Whenever I am craving asian fusion, this is where I go! Their portions are huge and they really know how to cook a mean pad thai or assorted curries. Personal favorites are the Chicken Pad Thai, Tom Kah Gah soup and Yellow Curry. Bonus points since they also deliver.

My favorite comfort food tacos! Served up by a local family. Limited day time hours and they are wildly popular in the hood so be sure to go a bit early so they don't sell out! Favorites are basics like egg, chorizo & cheese and egg, bacon, cheese. They also have fire barbacoa tacos.

I was over the moon when PV opened a location near the house. They have THE BEST salsas and have some of my most favorite breakfast tacos in Austin. My favorites are the Don Chago and the Taco Bueno. Their Chilaquiles are also some of the best around!

Favorite patio haunt on the east side. I really enjoy the expansive patio so we can bring the pups and have a drink and eat. The Yucca fries are to die for! Be sure to order those up and marvel at how perfectly fried and dusted with seasoning they are. I'm also a huge fan of the queso (with sesame oil?!) and their chicken sesame salad. Yum yum yum!

Are you ever in the mood for a sweaty dance party? Ok - maybe not always the sweaty part but "Barbs" (as the locals refer to it) is one of the best places in Austin to cut some rug. Also, you can buy a whole bottle of champagne here (uh-mazing). There is usually a theme going on each night so check their FB page for details.

This is one of those last gems of weird remaining in Austin. It's literally a walk down the street from my house (1 blk) so no need to worry about calling a cab for this one. There is usually a cover but most nights feature a local band and all sorts of locals from around the hood. Never a dull moment hanging around this funky haunt!

OH is the new barbz on the east side! This club caters to a younger crowd with perfectly seleted and rework disco bops. The club can get quite crowded but the dance floor is always hopping and the lights are fun... definitely the type of place you don't intend to stay all night but then you look down at your watch and you've seemingly time warped to 2am. The owner is a well known artist about town and there's lots of interesting art touches all over the bar.
