You'll find us tucked in the quiet woods of northern WI near the Brule River. We're remote enough to experience star-filled skies & fireflies, but not far from many premier attractions. Your space is a self-contained apartment on the lower level of our 2.5 story home. It features a private entry, queen-sized bed, kitchenette, lower level private deck, access our beautiful grounds & more! We're a family of artists who love to travel & to introduce others to our beautiful part of the world.

The home is the 1846 homestead of the William Butler family, making the home older than the State of Wisconsin! We’re located just outside of town with easy access to all that the beautiful Waupaca area has to offer. Only 10 minutes from the Chain! The property is surrounded by Maple and Oak mature forest yet has an open meadow perfect for picnics and star gazing. It is beautiful here; you can rest and recharge close to nature. Adventure Outpost is totally updated and designed for your comfort and convenience. The space is cozy, light and refreshing and big enough for the whole family!

Studio on the Prairie Fen

Kick back and relax at the Studio! The Studio is a 400 sq ft unique suite in the lower level of our home. A private locked entrance opens up to a sunny space with great views of a wetland beyond the backyard. Private patio to enjoy morning coffee and the sunrise. A great place to unwind and enjoy nature's beauty! We have binoculars if you love bird watching, and bikes to ride or hike the Glacial Drumlin Trail just 0.1 mile from the front door. This cozy studio sits on the edge of the quiet Forest Park neighborhood just 2 minutes from Tribute Golf course and Gilbert Park & Boat Launch. It's 7 minutes from Downtown Wausau’s 400 Block with its quaint shops, restaurants and The Grand Theater! Plus, concerts in the summer and ice skating in the winter. Black Dog Woodland Suite

The Woodland Suite is located on our 10 acre property on Spooner Lake. The Suite is a ground level apartment (300 sf) that is part of our garage/guest building. The views are of tamarack marsh, pine and oak woods, and the lake. It is a three room retreat for couples, solo adventurers, families with kids, and dogs. The Suite is not a good fit for four (4) adults.
