I would like to introduce to you a house belonged to my aunt “Omine”(pronounced oh-me-nay), which has just been beautifully renovated. My auntie was a noted “Shamisen” guitar player and she appeared in many movies and TV dramas. Now her home and its rooms, where she practiced her “Shamisen”, have been converted for a comfortable stay.

To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.

As featured on the NYTimes T list, this property is a "Kyomachiya", a traditional Japanese home over 100 years old. It has been revamped from a "Nishijin-ori" (traditional Japanese textile) factory. We collaborated with award winning architects at Ikken to renovate this space, which now accommodates the comforts of modern life, while retaining many of the original structure and elements from its past.
