Let me introduce myself. My name is Rakesh. I was born in a traditional village and live with our small family. We are very happy to introduce Balinese culture to foreign countries. We are very pleased to welcome you to our home, where we offer several cooking classes, restaurants, and villas. I am very happy to accompany you and introduce you to Balinese culture and traditional Balinese cuisine. I also warmly welcome you to stay at our villa.

This is a family effort and a real full immersion into Balinese cuisine and tradition. You get greeted in Rakesh’s house and meet his family as well as learn about the different functions of a Balinese house. Then you discover all the ingredients used in the recipes before cooking, which was great.
The cooking itself is a nice team effort and gave everyone the chance to learn about old traditional methods. You end up cooking a series of dishes, including a dessert. It was fun, engaging, and insightful. Also, it was nice to get to know the others and share dinner together.
Cherry on top, Gus was really adamant in letting you know more about Balinese traditions and culture as a tour guide.
This was such a great value compared to all other classes offered by hotels, especially because it offered the experience of being greeted in a typical house!
Highly, highly recommended!
