the North Shore of Hawaii is where you can see big wave surfing in the winter months. Think Sunset Beach and The Eddy Surf contest. Haleiwa is a tourist town with lots of stores where you can spend money and buy treasures.

If you want to see the island, take a drive to the north shore. The beaches are beautiful. If you go there, I reccomend trying Matusmoto's shave ice.
