Friendship park was founded in 1961 with the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Belgrade, attended by Heads of States and delegations from different countries around the world. Each leader planted a tree with the idea that when the trees grow to full size one day, their branches will touch each other symbolising holding of hands in friendship. That idea has been realised today! Each tree has plaque showing who planted it, the year, and the country they came from. Legends and history in one beautiful place!

Here you will find a tree of every politician who ever visted Belgrade: Mahatma Gandi, Richard Nixon, Queen Elizabeth II, but also some eternal rock'n'roll stars like Mick Jagger.
